Taking ACTION, DOING RESEARCH

Some of the steps involved in action research and what research actually is can be explored through use of direct observation, inquiry, collection, documentation, collaboration and conclusions. My own visual material here aims to explore experiences of the ordinary and how these have been shaped through what has been an extraordinary period in time.

Visual images mainly focus on strands of life and work before, during, beyond lockdown and considers some of the methods for capturing everyday data, patterns, illusions, findings in post grad research. I’ve used a range of mark making techniques and photos to record my own experience, without being intrusive to others but attentive to uses of information and sequences for resolution. I’ve considered a range of mediums for recording variables and through experiential approaches to gather research more creatively. I am currently using a blog style so it can be updated, edited and links with other recent online learning platforms for exploring styles and critical thinking approaches. Blogs can have countless uses such as personal journals & also academically for publishing assignments, resources, e-portfolios. The work additionally considers educational research in a more in-depth analysis of learning improvements, inclusive support & other kinds of e-safe changes currently evolving in education. A recent safeguarding source (DFE, 2022) highlights concerns, with emphasis that everybody has a responsibility and that it’s everyone’s work. I also participated in WCDD Teams sessions online which addressed some of the systematic concerns, enquiries, time gaps and improvements in personal & professional development that can be involved in the action research process.

In drawing to a close, Action Research is continually evolving though out the use of time (such as recent clinical trials, screening assessments, intervention-based research, other dimensions) and a web log can make research more interactive. The outcomes can orient towards a more vigilant, authentic outcome by increasing collaboration, security and reader engagement. Interpretation can also breed in an endless cycle of fact & fiction 24/7 in the world-wide environment and there seems to be no clear-cut research around Covid19 times (e.g.) without news on the accuracy of flowflex lateral flow self tests and other news on relaxing various tests. My own visual images reflect on new and existing perceptions of presence and absence which are not fixed at the moment and in constant change.
